sunflowers!!!!

They brighten up any day…

I was on my way to a business meeting this morning in another town and I hadn’t had time to eat breakfast. So as I swung off to grab a McDonalds’ hash brown - there, opposite McDonalds was a field of Sunflowers with their heads facing the sun. I ate my breakfast in the car and drove to my meeting, then on my way home I turned off again and parked. I made my way down to the field and took about 50 photos from all different angles,.

Some had their heads hanging down, others had turned raggedy and started to lose petals (my favourite stage), others were multi-headed, flowers turning in all directions like weathervanes. I was in heaven!

So I thought I would share my photos with you - I’ve turned a selection of my favourites into PDFs which you can download and print off free, by clicking the button here below. You’ll see that I used my Hipstamatic app on my iphone to take them, as I love the extra shadows and exaggerated colours you get with that app. So happy drawing dear readers!

Love from me x

Here’s a little clip (speeded up) from part three “Autumn Sunflowers” of my online course Blooming Marvellous, which is available in my shop <——- (click here)
I’m drawing with a Derwent Inktense Pencil (colour: Bark - a purply brown) on top of GOLDEN Light Molding Paste which I have put through a hand-made stencil (also part of the tutorial) to create the seed heads. Inktense pencils are water-soluble but dry permanently and are wonderful when you work on a damp surface like I am doing here…
