an orange day
Today I felt like dressing brightly and drawing to match…
I love drawing girls. This is from an old photo, that became a watercolour, that I decided to draw again. A photo of my daughter Heidi when she was a teenager.
I sketched her first with a watercolour pencil, and then filled in her skin tone with a mixture of gouache and watercolour.
It’s such fun to use the same orange in paint, pen and pencil. In this case I used Daniel Smith Transparent Pyrrole Orange for the watercolour and mixed it with a little W&N Quinacridone Magenta.
Then I had to paint some flowers to match her on the opposite page. I used watercolour, mixed with white gouache and some watercolour pencils. To finish it all off I started using some acrylic markers and a new product (for me) - A Sennelier acrylic 3D liner, in gold - which made the whole thing start to look like a Gustav Klimt…. /jacqui x
